Pete Rose gambles on a baseball game (not a crime, but it is a MLB rule) gets caught, and is banned from the game for the rest of his life.
Michael Vick gets caught and is conVICKted of a felony dog-fighting charge, pisses off 90% of the country, alienates himself from his entire team, spends a year in prison...... and when he gets out.... he signs a 1 year, 1.6 million dollar contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
I hope that every Eagles fan protests every game. I hope that the Eagles cannot sell a single seat for home games and goes bankrupt. I hope all the major sponsors of NFL pull out of their contracts (the rednecks know where the beer isle is... and if they forget, they can always watch NASCAR). I hope the NFL takes a huge hit in the wallet and the face for being so damned greedy. Michael Vick should have had to work construction for the rest of his life while volunteering all his spare time at an animal shelter, a veterinary hospital, and a groomer's.
I am so pissed off right now, I don't know what else to say. This is an asinine, and a supremely stupid decision by the NFL.
I wonder if the Eagles are going to have a 'Bring Your Big Mean Dog to Game Day' day. Kinda like 'Bat' day at a baseball stadium. Right Pete? Oh yeah... you're still banned.

I've got a question...
Jul. 25th, 2009 | 09:05 am

When we go back to the moon around 2020 aboard the Constellation program, and we find all the Apollo equipment that we left behind... do you think the moon landing nay-sayers will admit they have been wrong for 40 years? Or will they try to convince everyone that NASA is filming the new moon landing in a film studio somewhere?
I noticed that not many of the hoax believers spoke up when the LRO satellite took pictures of the Apollo landing sites on the moon.
Apollo Landing Sites
As Americans, they have the right not to believe that we have actually visited a heavenly body, just as I have that same right to call them ignorant. But let me ask you this, if we didn't land on the moon, why would NASA be in such a hurry to go back if it will only prove that we've never been there? If we had never gone, I think NASA would do everything they could to bypass the moon & go straight to Mars. I honestly can't wait for the day when we send back photos of new astronauts on the moon, next to the decent portion of the Apollo lunar landers.

At a Red Sox/Twins baseball game last night, the home plate Ump threw the catcher and manager out of the game..... for BOTH teams! While, I could see that happening to an extremely irate player or coach, I was surprised at just how fast the Umpire ejected them from the game over what would be considered barely an argument. I mean, seriously, I get more mad at work than these guys did. It seems as though if someone said anything to him, they got ejected.
Don't believe me? Here's the link: Click! And make sure you click the video link. The Ump made a bad call at home plate.
And another thing... this one is about Proposition 8 in California. Since when, exactly, did a bunch of high-school students become more tolerant, more compassionate, and frankly more educated than the entire California Supreme Court? Aren't judges (ALL judges, not just those on the Supreme Court) supposed to uphold the rights of ALL citizens?? California used to be the front-runner for the rest of the country. They were the most tolerant to anything different, and now they are taking giant steps backwards.
This country needs to do itself a favor, and make decisions based on what is good for the country and her people, and not based on any religion. The number of religious people in this country is falling at an incredible rate, while atheism is on the rise. I hope, one day, we'll have people in our public offices that actually want to make a difference, and will try their hardest to do what is best for their constituents and not what their religious book tells them to do. There is nobody on Earth that follows their religion 100%.

Just when you think you know someone....
May. 6th, 2009 | 07:25 pm
Last night, I went to an award dinner for my step-dad (hereby known as "Judge"). I have known for some time now that he is a rather important & powerful man. But until last night, I didn't know exactly HOW important Judge is. He received an award that is not normally given to judges, so it was kind of a big deal. The only other judge that has received the award was Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Quince, if that tells you anything. The room had 200 or so people in it, ranging from friends to current and former Supreme Court Justices. There were many important and powerful people there.... all to honor my step-father.
There were many speakers, some of which cracked a few jokes, but they all spoke from the heart and told of the many accomplishments and accolades that Judge has..... well.... earned. I say 'earned' because they don't just give an award for no reason. Judge has spent many years, countless hours, and many sleepless nights, pushing to improve the lives of thousands of people from employees to welfare families to colleagues.
After listening to all these people for a little over an hour, I really got a sense of how many people, not just in this city, but across the state, look up to, and admire this man. While on my way home, I began thinking how truly lucky I am to know Judge on a different level than most of the people in that room.
I have gone fishing with that man.
I have ridden a motorcycle with that man.
I have helped that man build his train board.
I have seen him play the drums.
I have worried about that man when he was in the hospital.
I have bought him gifts for his birthday (and he got mad because I spent too much).
I have had the great pleasure of eating his cooking.
I may not, and may never know Judge on a professional level, but I would not trade our friendship for anything. He may have been the one receiving the award, but we, the ones that know him, are the lucky ones. I am honestly proud and honored to be a part of his family.

Just a biker
Apr. 23rd, 2009 | 08:27 am
I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local Mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked out front. But you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn't see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our Leather jackets and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my children were born or have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family. I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn't see me pat my child's hands knowing she was safe behind me. I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn't see me trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road. I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me. Repost this around in hopes that people will understand the biker community. If you don't repost this, it sucks to be you. I hope you never lose someone that rides. EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE US, RESPECT OUR RIGHTS TO RIDE WHAT WE CHOOSE AND TAKE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS TO BE SURE WE ARE NOT IN 'YOUR' WAY.
I got this in an email from a friend in my chapter of ABATE. I don't normally send around stuff like this because it clogs up people's email. Instead, I decided to post it here, because an email can be deleted. It strikes a chord because a fellow ABATE friend was killed last Friday when a van crossed the line & hit him. He was one of the nicest, most selfless guys you'd ever meet.

Yep, I bought a 2008 Chevrolet HHR yesterday, and I love it. It's a nice step up from my 2001 Mitsubishi Galant that I traded in.
As I was in the finance office at Champion Chevy and was about to write a check, I noticed that the biggest check I have ever written would be written on a check with a picture of Wonder Woman. Great. It couldn't be Superman or even Batman. Nope, it had to be Wonder Woman.
And then I noticed what the check number was.
187
Seriously? The largest check I have ever written has a picture of Wonder Woman and the code for murder. How nice.
Well..... at least I like my car.
The downside is that I'm sick. Some friggin head cold. Joy.

I've had a number of people I work with ask me what my New Year's Resolutions are. Now, I'm not normally one to make resolutions, but this year.... I think I will. And for some strange damn reason, I felt inclined to post it on LJ.
So my very short list is:
So my very short list is:
- To keep up with my time better (when working for my mother)
- To try & not spend money on crap I don't need and actually get a little savings built up
- Lose weight (it seems everyone says this each year, but nobody ever follows through, so to set an actual goal... I'll say 20 pounds)
